In Concert: Socks in the Frying Pan
Join the Irish Center as we welcome Socks in the Frying Pan!
Socks in the Frying Pan, a multi-award-winning trio from Ennis, County Clare, Ireland - the mecca of Irish traditional music - was formed in 2014. Their "Socks Sound" combines virtuosic musicianship with a burning passion for the music and tradition, pitch-perfect harmonies, and a big splash of quick wit and banter.

In Concert: Screaming Orphans
The Irish Center is delighted to welcome the Screaming Orphans on March 6!
Screaming Orphans are a chart-topping all-sister folk and pop band from Ireland. They are known worldwide for their award-winning sound combining original pop songs with a unique take on traditional Irish music. The band has always defied being pigeonholed, having masterfully developed their own unique fusion of folk and pop.

In Concert: Paul Byrom
Following the huge success of his 40 city tour with Celtic Thunder, original member, Paul Byrom returns to America this March with his own solo tour "Songs From Home", performing many fan favorites from his 8 solo albums and telling endless amounts of stories in between. This is a concert like no other.

Gramadach/Basic Irish Grammar: Spring 2026
Grammar is for people with basic Irish or who have been through an introduction course or similar. Improve your grammar, structure, and understanding in this course. Each class will begin with a short comhrá/conversation session, followed by structured learning. We will be following along with Basic Irish: A Grammar and Workbook by Nancy Stenson, beginning with Chapter 6.
This class will meet from 8:00pm-9:15pm on Wednesdays from January 21 - February 25 with a break week on February 11. The end-of-term celebration will be on March 4.
Songs in Irish: Spring 2026
We will be covering a few songs with Irish lyrics. We will talk about what the lyrics are and what they mean, both within the songs and within the culture. We will cover a couple modern songs and some sean-nós this term.
This class is aimed for mid-level beginners to intermediate levels and will meet from 7:00-8:15pm on Wednesdays from January 21 - February 25 with a break week on February 11. The end-of-term celebration will be on Tuesday, March 4.
Continuing Irish II: Spring 2026
Get out of the cold, and get into an Irish language class at the Irish Center!
Continuing Irish builds upon our Beginning Irish course. Delve deeper into understanding the history of the Irish language and gain a deeper comprehension of structure and grammar concepts through fun, practical applications of new words. Students will leave being able to hold basic conversations.
This course is geared at newer Irish language students wishing to continue improving their skills, and will meet from 6:15pm-7:15pm on Wednesdays from January 21 - March 4 with a break week on February 11.

Continuing Irish builds upon our Beginning Irish course. Delve deeper into understanding the history of the Irish language and gain a deeper comprehension of structure and grammar concepts through fun, practical applications of new words. Students will leave being able to hold basic conversations. This course is geared at newer learners wishing to continue improving their Irish skills.
Muinteoir Erin Hartnett is thrilled to be a part of the team at the Irish Center after years of being part of the KC Irish community. Erin studied theatrical design and Spanish at K-State. Drama work actually led to a dabbling in Irish as a hobby. In 2020, with theatres closed, Erin took advantage of the time and began studying Irish in earnest. Since then, Gaeilge has become a true love and passion. Erin is excited to share the grá with the community.
This course is geared at winter term beginners or others who have done 5 weeks of KCIC Irish or equivalent and will meet from 7:00pm - 8:15pm on Wednesdays from November 5 - December 17 with a Thanksgiving break on November 25.
The course will meet in the Irish Center's programming space at 15 W. Linwood Boulevard.
